Well respected and experienced full-back who refused a new contract at Scunthorpe in preference to the rather more glamorous surroundings of the KC Stadium.  Dawson secured a regular left back berth during City's ascent up the leagues, combining good tackling and positional awareness with strong overlapping runs down the left wing and the occasional curling free-kick goal.  Despite the occasional moments of doubt Dawson has proved his worth at all levels and became a competent Premier League left back, having played with the Tigers in all four leagues.  Indeed his form in the top division encouraged the club to reward him with a new contract during January 2009, which he is now playing out in City's return to the Championship.
