Comment
Tall and powerful central defender Leon Cort joined the Tigers in Summer 2004 after three seasons at Southend.  He cut his professional teeth - without making the first team grade - at Millwall, taking extended loan spells at Forest Green and Stevenage during 2000-01.  Prior to that he impressed as a teenager for Dulwich Hamlet.  After a slightly shaky start to the season Leon developed into a tremendous asset to the club during his first season, adopting a "none shall pass" attitude to defending and posing a genuine aerial threat at set pieces.  He continued this towering form into the Championship and perhaps became City's most prized asset, a suggestion that was proven when Peter Taylor made signing Leon for £1.2 million his first act when assuming the management of Crystal Palace.  The first act of Taylor's successor at Palace, the odious Neil Warnock, was to loan and then sell Leon to Stoke for an eventual £1 million fee.  Cort played a key role in Stoke's elevation to the Premier League alongside City, but was discarded by Pulis in the top flight and after a season and a half on the fringes he joined Burnley in January 2010 in a £1.5m deal.
