Diminutive, pacy and promising youngster, Gary attracted the attentions of scouts in his early days and was a schoolboy on Newcastle United's books before deciding to return to his home town club.  After inhabited the fringes of the first team for several seasons he failed to grasp the chance to show his undoubted talents more regularly at senior level, became disillusioned with the game and left the club in March 2003 to walk a new path in life, which involved: July 2003 - Hall Road Rangers, August 2003 - Harrogate Town and November 2003 - North Ferriby United.
In September 2005 and after a prolific two seasons up front for Ferriby, Bradshaw had several trials with League clubs before joining Cheltenham Town in an attempt to resurrect his professional career.  He was sent off within 26 minutes of his debut and returned to Ferriby on loan in March 2006, permanently in June 2006.
