Tall, fast and direct, Allsopp came to England from Oz to join Manchester City from Carlton SC.  While not a permanent Maine Road first team fixture, he gained a good reputation and moved on to Notts County for 300 grand.  A glut of goals followed but as the Pie slipped into receivership, City swooped in May 2003 and brokered a deal rumoured to be worth £80,000 with the club's administrator, much to the ire of the first team manager who knew nothing of the deal.
His pre-season culminated in a spectacular winning goal in a pre-season friendly against Leeds United - a sure way to a Tigery heart.  After developing a telepathy with Ben Burgess he has returned an excellent haul of goals, only hampered by being dogged regularly by injury.
By 2004-05 his form had dipped, although the goals were still coming in dribs and drabs.  In March 2005 Danny revealed his homesickness and he was allowed to move back down under to join Melbourne Victory.
