Big money £160,000 signing from Swindon, Alexander made his name during a scoring spree whilst on loan at Exeter from West Ham.  Gary had lots to prove in front of goal and made an immediate impact, scoring 20 goals before Christmas in his first season in black and amber.  After then his goals per game ratio diminished considerably and despite being shown great patience by his managers, in the end Peter Taylor reached the limit of his tether and off-loaded Gary to Leyton Orient where he became captain and helped pilot them to promotion in May 2006.  Joined Millwall on a free transfer in June 2007 and spent three seasons at The New Den before switching to Brentford in Summer 2010.
