Biography
Midfield powerhouse Livermore first joined City on loan in August 2013, signing at the same time as Spurs team-mate Tom Huddlestone to bolster the Tigers midfield on their return to the Premier League. After a successful first season Jake became City’s record signing when £8m prised him from Tottenham Hotspur. Jake played reliably but unspectacularly during the 2014/15 season, but his career crashed down around his feet in April 2015 when he failed a drugs test and was suspended by the FA. Within three months the circumstances behind his cocaine use became apparent, he was suffering despression after his new born baby died a year earlier, his suspension was ended and he returned to the City fold stronger and rejuvenated. His Championship form in 2015/16 was his best for City, and he carried that form into the Premier League in 2016/17, including a few games as makeshift centre back.
Jake joined Tottenham Hotspur at a young age and made his first team debut during March 2010 after a number of lower league loans. He worked his way into the first team at White Hart Lane and featured prominently in their European campaigns.
Shortly after Marco Silva joined the Tigers in January 2017 it became apparent that the wily Portuguese had to sell before he could buy, and the club accepted a £10m offer from West Bromwich Albion for Jake’s signature. Livermore immediately established himself in Tony Pulis’s first XI for the Baggies and by 2019 was club captain and fulcrum for the first XI. He remained at The Hawthorns for another four years before leaving the club in May 2023.
In July 2023 Jake signed a one year deal with Championship side Watford.
Livermore made his senior debut for England in 2012. He was not selected for the national side during his time at Hull City, but was promptly called up again by Gareth Southgate after his switch to West Bromwich Albion.
