862 Roland Edge

Biography

Edge joined City as auxiliary left back in July 2004, deputising ably for Andy Dawson over a season and a half without showing any signs of deposing his rival defender. He was released by City in January 2006 after struggling with a long term injury.

Born and raised in Gillingham, Edge joined his local side as a youngster and spent three seasons in the Gills’ first team. In 2003 he headed north to Hibernian before joining the Tigers a year later.

Edge’s injuries led to the end of his professional career, and returning to Kent he played for Folkestone Invicta and Maidstone United. Since 2010 he has been a stalwart on the coaching staff at Folkestone Invicta, rising to assistant manager in recent years.
