329 Harold Huxford

Biography

Utility forward Huxford joined City in 1938 and played a supporting role during the Tigers’ final season before World War Two.

Born in Grimsby, Huxford played for his home town club prior to his move to Hull City. He returned to Grimsby during the hostilities and played several wartime fixtures for the Mariners. In 1945 he signed for Boston United, for whom he had also played wartime games in 1939/40, and in 1948 he moved on to Midland League side Peterborough United.

Huxford died in 2001.
