1070 Leonardo da Silva Lopes

Biography

Dynamic Portuguese midfielder Leonardo Adelino da Silva Lopes joined City on the August 2019 transfer deadline day, reunting him with former manager Grant McCann. Da Silva was introduced gently into the first team but found his form as City emabarked on an October run of victories.

Born in Lisbon, Lopes and his family moved to England as a teenager and cut his teeth in the Peterborough United academy. The Posh gave Leo his debut at sixteen and he had amassed 100 League appearances while still in his teens. In June 2018 Wigan prised Lopes away from Peterborough for a £1.5 million fee but the move was not successful and he signed for City a year later.

Lopes won a Portugal under-20 cap in 2018.
