Midfield grafter Evandro was Marco Silva’s first signing when he took the reins at Hull City, having worked with him previously in Portugal. Goebel was tidy and reliable on the ball and showed a pleasing desire to put in a tackle – but somehow his game seemed a tad less than the sum of its parts at the Premier League level. He outlasted Silva but hardly played during his second season due to injury and general “being-in-Brazil-ness”. However he buckled down in his third season and spent the season alternately down the first team support striker role or recovering from niggly injuries. Evandro left the club in May 2019 on expiry of his contract.
The Brazilian enjoyed a five year career in his native country, often on loan, before he plunged into a European career with a move to Serbian side Red Star Belgrade. He then moved to Portugal, firstly Silva’s Estoril then Porto, before signing for the Tigers in January 2017.
Goebel played for Brazil in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship.
